Lake Holathlikaha is the heart of Fort Cooper State Park. Spring-fed and crystal-clear, the 160 acre lake lured battle-weary volunteers to its banks in 1836, where they built and defended a frontier fort. Today, it charms thousands of visitors each year with its unique blend of beauty and history.

Park Activities

Boat Tours
Enjoy the 160-acre Lake Holathlikaha by renting a paddleboat. Paddleboats are available for $3/hour. Private boats are prohibited.

Fishing
Lake Holathlikaha offers fresh water fishing. While private boats are not permitted, paddleboats may be rented. Contact the part for rental details. A fishing license is required.

Nature Trails
Nearly five miles of self-guided nature trails give visitors a glimpse of the area's wildlife. The trails offer some of Citrus counties best birding.

Picnicking
The hardwood hammock, along Lake Holathlikaha, is an excellent picnic area complete with grills, tables, and pavillions. The beach area accommodates volleyball, horseshoe, and playground activities.

Swimming
With higher water levels, Lake Holathlikaha offers excellent fresh water swimming. Contact the park for lake conditions.
