Big Lagoon State Park derives its name from a bordering body of water called Big Lagoon. This coastal State park which consists of 712 upland acres, was opened in 1978 and is admired for all the recreational opportunities expected at a Florida state park. It is located just southwest of Pensacola, Florida about 10 miles on the Gulf coast near Perdido Key Beach.

Big Lagoon State park offers Full Facility Camping on this 712-acre park. It has 75 campsites with electric and water hookups available for reservation.

Sea kayakers begin or end a 1,515-mile sea kayaking journey on the Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail here at Big Lagoon State Park.  The top half of a kayak in the sand marks the sea kayak launch site along with a box containing a log book.
